HOW TO IMPROVE YOUR POE!!

 ('POE' Point Of Encounter) with Customers

...as I promised yesterday, let us look at how you can improve your POE.

Make a good list of all your company's point of encounter (POE) with customers or potential customers. Then focus your efforts on making these POEs smooth, professional and pleasant...

Your customer's POEs probably include the point at which he:

- First hears about your business or becomes aware of what you do.

- Makes contact with you either in person, by phone or by mail.

- Wait to be served.

- Is introduced to yo
ur products or services.

- Tries out your products.

- Experience your follow-up.

- Encounter the way you handle problems.

What potential problems might the customer face at each of these POEs?

+ For the FIRST POE, he may not be clear as to what you do, or may have concerns about your ability or willingness to help him. He may be impressed 'favourably' or 'negatively' with your organisation's logo, slogans, work location or the like.

+ For the SECOND POE, the customer may be put off by appearances or mannerisms that project low professionalism or unfriendliness.

+ For the THIRD POE, he may be frustrated by delays or the boredom of having to wait.
...many restaurants provide music or light reading to keep their customers distracted,

... Some Hotels even posts the day's newspaper above the urinals in the men's room to keep us busy folks occupied.

+ For the FOURTH and FIFTH POEs involve the people skills of your customer contact people. Getting people to try the product immediately has a very positive impact on selling and satisfying.

...Computer dealers who sit the prospect down and have him punch a few keys and car dealers who get him in for a test drive are making the most of these POEs.

+ For the SIXTH and SEVENTH POEs can do a great deal to create a loyal respect customer.

Think about your customer's POEs. Then make these as smooth and professional as possible.
